The World Macedonian Congress (WMC) strongly condemns the statement of Cypriot President Nikos Anastasiadis, who accused Macedonia of irredentism!
The WMC reiterates that it is not a matter of Macedonian irredentism, but rather Greek occupation of Macedonia and genocide against the Macedonian people from the Balkan wars from 1912-1913 to the present!
WMC reminds Athens that the International Court of Justice in The Hague, after a lawsuit against Macedonia on December 5, 2011, unanimously decided that Greece violated the Macedonian-Greek Interim Accord of September 13, 1995!
The International Court of Justice in The Hague rejected the accusations of Athens in relation to the existence of Macedonian irredentism!
The WMC points out that the sixteen-rayed golden-yellow sun on a red background represents an ‘All-Macedonian’ symbol, it has nothing to do with the cultural and historical heritage of Athens!
We forgive, but we do not forget! We demand an apology and reparations for the damage to the lives and property of the forcibly persecuted Macedonians and the exploitation of natural resources and archaeological excavations in the occupied Aegean part of Macedonia since 1912. We demand the return of citizenship, civil, property and inheritance rights of the forcibly persecuted Macedonians from the occupied Aegean part of Macedonia from 1912!
Despite everything and after all, Macedonians believe that Macedonia’s culture and history are not an exclusive right, but a part of the cultural-historical identity of all Balkan demos as modern political nations in which the Macedonian ethnos is based, regardless of differences in reading history from the aspect of current geopolitics, even regardless of the differences between contemporary literary languages as a product of modern political nations!
Macedonians extend their hand for historic Macedonian-Greek reconciliation, Macedonians propose to the governments in Skopje and Athens to reach an Agreement for lasting peace and good neighbourly relations between Macedonia and Greece that will replace the Macedonian-Greek Interim Accord of September 13, 1995!
