The World Macedonian Congress (WMC) strongly condemns the desecration and demolition of about 40 gravestones at the cemetery in the village of Brnjarci, Gazi Baba.
WMC considers this vandalism in the village of Brnjarci as part of the ethnic cleansing that is permanently done against the Macedonians in this part of the municipality of Gazi Baba.
After the ethnic cleansing in the village of Arachinovo in the 2001 war, in which ethnic Macedonians no longer live, the destruction of the Orthodox cemetery in Brnjarci is a serious blow to the policies of ethnic and religious tolerance and coexistence in the country.
The WMC appeals to the Government to take the most urgent measures for remediation of the cemetery in the village of Brnjarci.
WMC appeals to the local mufti and the mayor of Arachinovo to educate their “believers” of the true definition of tolerance and coexistence.
The WMC expects the competent authorities to find and punish the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
